Letter Sent by Victim – 3

“An Open Letter to Chinese Pastors in Toronto”

1. How Our Family Was Wrongfully Destroyed by Gong Mingpeng

Our family’s original problems were easily resolvable, but Pastor Gong’s distortion of right and wrong and misleading actions pushed our family step by step into disaster.

In the years that followed, despite knowing he had caused distortion, misleading, and devastating consequences, he refused to admit his mistakes and continued to mislead and manipulate my wife, leading her to a state of serious moral and conscience violations, yet she mistakenly believed she was following him on a “spiritual” path.

Ultimately, through this ongoing distortion of right and wrong and this devastating violation of moral and conscience, our family was unjustly destroyed.

Pastor Gong was not only the key factor in my family’s destruction, but also the biggest obstacle to resolving it. Because both he and my wife had reached a point of serious moral and conscience violations, they refused to admit their mistakes, colluding to lie and cover up the situation, distorting right and wrong.

This made our family’s problems unsolvable, and we suffered repeated trauma in a cycle of separation and divorce, completely ruining our family.

2. The church ecosystem of silence and complicity, and the resulting consequences

Faced with such severe damage, I have repeatedly reported this to: Pastor Gong’s church, the pastoral team at Toronto China Bible Church, and organizations where he holds key positions, such as  “Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism of Canada (CCCWE Canada)”, “Canadian Campus Evangelical Fellowship”, and “Toronto Chinese Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship- (TCEMF)”.

Pastor Gong’s church not only failed to address the issue, but also colluded in lies and cover-ups, even suppressing the whistleblower.

Other organizations and leaders have remained silent, evaded responsibility, and refused to respond, becoming complicit in the concealment of the truth.

This isn’t just a tragedy for my family; it also exposes a systemic problem within the Chinese church in Toronto: Faced with the evil deeds of those in spiritual power, church leaders have collectively become numb to their consciences, fostering a culture of silence.

 Failing to speak honestly and righteously, they allow the destruction to continue. How can they truly be salt and light?

This church dynamic also leads to negative consequences for faith: erroneous beliefs, misunderstandings of scripture, human distortions, and partial gospel and false doctrines remain uncorrected.

The light of truth cannot penetrate the church, and instead, piety is disguised through spiritual rhetoric and religious activities.

3. The direction we seek: Dialogue based on the truth, resolution through dialogue.

We seek not confrontation, but the restoration of justice and the restoration of faith, so that families will no longer be so unjustly destroyed.

We hope to:

engage in an honest dialogue based on the truth;

seek proper repair and reconciliation through dialogue;

Pastor Gong should immediately cease his pastoral duties, acknowledge the serious harm and misleading he has caused, publicly admit his mistakes and apologize, and address the damaging impact.

On this basis, we are willing to work with him to seek healing for his family and restoration within the faith community.

4. We urge you to take the following specific actions:

Send an email to Pastor Gong Mingpeng and his church, urging them to face the facts and take responsibility;

Appeal to relevant organizations ( “Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism of Canada (CCCWE Canada)”, “Canadian Campus Evangelical Fellowship”, and “Toronto Chinese Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship- (TCEMF)”.), urging them to verify and respond to the truth;

Support or participate in the “Fact-Finding Team” to promote an objective investigation;

Participate in or assist the “Dialogue and Proper Resolution Team” for candid dialogue, seeking unity and a proper resolution based on the truth;

If you would like to learn more, please contact us. This is a typical systemic tragedy within Toronto’s religious system. If we fail to address it, the harm will continue. If we work together, we have the opportunity to restore a healthy religious environment in the church.
